What is Medicare?
Medicare is a health insurance plan for people who are age 65 or older, or who have been disabled for more than 24 months. This is a health plan that is managed by the Federal Government through the Department of Health and Human Services within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. There are four main parts to Medicare and only three parts can be used at one time. They include:
- Medicare Part A: Hospital Insurance
Medicare Part A helps cover in-patient and stays in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, hospice care services and home health care services. To qualify for Medicare Part A, you or your spouse must have worked and paid Medicare premiums for a minimum of ten years. To find out when to sign up for Medicare Part A or how to sign up for Medicare Part A, contact us today.
- Medicare Part B: Medical Insurance
Sign up for Medicare Part B to be covered for out-patient medical care such as therapy, doctor visits and other medical procedures not covered by Medicare Part A. Medicare Part B is purchased as a Medicare Supplement and is paid for by monthly premium payments that can be deducted from your Social Security Check. - Medicare Part C: Medicare Advantage Plans
